Saint-James has roots as far back as 1850, in Lower Normandy when the Legallais family begun to spin and dye locally produced wool. A real industrial adventure was underway, and the commune went on to sell the wool to local haberdasheries for the production of underwear and real woolen shirts – a move which later spawned the fisherman’s sweater that we’ve all come to know and love.
